Campins is a small municipality in the area of the Vallès
Oriental, some 7.38 Km2 in total area, located on the foothills
of the Montseny. To the east it faces Gualba, to the south
Sant Celoni and to the north and west with Fogars de Montclús.
The town has 296 inhabitants (census year 2000), shared between
the small town centre and numerous scattered houses.
The municipal area is mountainous and wooded, above all in
the northernmost sector. Practically the entire population
is concentrated in the southernmost half where the land is
much flatter. Despite its modest appearance, the town is unique
in many ways. It is located in the basin of a lake which existed
here some thirty million years ago. The loam left behind was
used at the beginnings of the last century for the first cement
factory in the country.
The area benefits from weather conditions; benign in winter
and breezy in summer, which with its natural, mountainous
attractive scenery explains the area’s traditional appeal
for tourists.
