Walking has been a tradition in Montseny from the end of the
20th century.
The extraordinary quality of its landscapes, the diversity
of its plant life, and the spectacular seasonal colour changes,
especially in the chestnut, oak and beech woods make Montseny
an ideal place for walking routes. The information centres
in the natural park help visitors to discover routes, points
of interest and other useful facts to enjoy their stay here
to the full. We recommend using the network of sign posted
routes, some of which come with an information leaflet.
These routes begin at Fontmartina, Santa Fe, Sant Marçal,
Collformic and the Collet de Sant Martí, and lead up
to the most important peaks on the mountain range. The park
is also crossed by two GR routes, with directions painted
on the ground with red and white markings: the GR 5; which
on its way across the Montseny goes from Campins to Aiguafreda,
passing through Fontmartina, Montseny and the plain of El
Pla de la Calma, and the GR 2 which goes through Seva, El
Brull and Augafreda. To complement the possibilities of public
walking routes the park has the Fontmartina campsite and an
area for youth camping at Vallcàrquera with the additional
offer of private camp sites, or other services such as organised
guided route walks.
GRAN RECORREGUT (GR) PATHWAYS (GR 2, GR 5)
Two GR paths cross the park (the GR 5 and the GR 2) which
are marked with their unmistakeable red and white signs (one
horizontal coloured stripe above another). The GR 5 goes from
Sitges to Blanes, passing through the Garraf, Montserrat,
Sant Llorenç del Munt and l'Obac, Montseny and the
Montnegre-Corredor, crossing the park lengthways along its
southern half. This path is indicated by green boundary posts
which are marked in red and white. The GR 2 connects La Jonquera
to Aiguafreda, and passes through the northern part of the
mountain range. Both routes meet at Aiguafreda.
SIGNPOSTED ROUTES These are walking routes which are properly signposted
and are usually circular, they cross different areas of the
natural park. They are designed to show the visitor the rich
natural and cultural heritage of the area. Some come with
an informative leaflet which means you can follow a self-guided
route. Ask for more details at the information centres. EL SOT DE L'INFERN (Hell’s Hole) Starting Point: Plana del Coll, road from
