What is CRAC?
CRAC is the Centre for Research into the Arts of the Circus, the permanent base of CIRC, a factory of dreams, a laboratory for learning, creating, exploring, producing and extending circus technique and performance. It is a meeting point for circus people in Southern Europe, and the headquarters of CIRC CRIC. Located within the Montseny Nature Park, in Sant Esteve de Palautordera, an idyllic setting 50 km from Barcelona and 50 km from Girona, in the heart of the countryside. As pioneers in presenting the world of the circus to children, over recent years we have successfully established our programme for schools, as vouched for by visitor figures of 165,000 boys, girls and teachers so far. Its director is Tortell Poltrona, well known for his work both in the field of the circus and clowning and with youngsters. 2005 National Culture Award. As activists of Clowns Without Borders, we have recently sent performers to Kosovo, Syria, Palestine, Benin, Ivory Coast, Haiti, Congo...
